How Time Flies When You're Having FUN!

Wow!! Jaycie is 18 months old today!! Where does the time go? And I hear it only goes faster as they get older!! She's such a good baby!!

We were kind of worried that they had traded babies on us in the ER or they had given her something via her IV in the ER that altered her easy going, pretty much always happy, never cries, never throws a fit personality ! She was a totally different kid who had a major attitude and wanted everything her way, but you couldn't ever figure out what that way was! But we are seeing the light and getting our baby back. I think she did learn to cry and voice her opinion somehow while she was sick because that little part is still coming out occasionally, but for the most part she is lots of fun and a happy girl again!

She is still a little thing. She mostly wears 6-12 month size clothes. the shirts mostly fit, the pants are starting to fit in the length, but most of them still will not stay on her itty bitty waist! We have broken out the 12 -18 month size pajamas (except for Carters- still in 12 months cuz they run big) mostly because of the length in the arms and legs - they seem to run smaller than everyday clothes. She is up to a size 4 shoe! I still have a major addiction to buying all the cute little girl clothes, but I do do my best to shop all the sales. And thanks to my sister who has 2 girls and a great friend (whose daughter is a month older than Jaycie but wears 2T and 3T) we have gotten lots of great hand-me-downs! So I luckily only have to do her laundry about once every 3 weeks ! It's great!

Jaycie is really trying to say a lot of words: Mom, Da, up, down, ba (bath), ba (back), by (for when she wants you or a toy to sit by her), aw (all done), poop (as she points to herself!) , poo (pool), and she really copies at least one word from each sentence when you are talking to her. You probably wouldn't understand it if she said the word alone, but you can usually figure out which word she is trying to mimic. She still does the signs for all done, more, thank you and please which have helped a lot in trying to communicate with her at this nonverbal age. I will definitely try to teach all of our kids the signs as they come along!

As we approached this 18 month mark, most of the books say that they usually drop to one nap, so I've been testing the waters, but our little princess still needs her beauty sleep. She usually goes to bed around 8:15 and sleeps til between 8 and 8:30 in the morning. She gets up, has breakfast and after being up for about 2 1/2 hours you can tell she's ready for a little shut eye. She usually naps between 1 1/2 - 2 hours, gets up, has lunch, up for another 2 1/2 hours and again needs a little shut eye for about 1/ 1/2 - 2 hours. We get up have dinner, playtime, then bath time and story time then and off to bed. So for now we're sticking to our 2 naps a day. Brad and I were talking and we kind of think that part of why she is/was such a happy and easy baby is because she is so well rested - just like me ! As long as I get a good 9 - 10 hours at night (without too many interruptions) I am good to go!
Jaycie has liked to watch movies since she was about 3 months old! That portable DVD player from Mimi and Pa on her 1st Christmas ( she was 4 months old) that we thought was a little premature - turned out to be one of the best gifts ever!!! It has saved us on trips to Colorado and Abilene, days at work with me, and just general Mommy drag her around in the car all day! Her favorite movie right now is "Charlotte's Web". Some of her other favorites are "Veggie Tales" (Daddy's favorite too!), "Praise Baby", and "Baby Einstein". She also likes the Nick Jr favorites: "Go Diego Go", "Blue's Clues", "Dora the Explorer", "Backyardigans", and "The Wonder Pets". She doesn't just sit in front of the TV all day because I don't keep the TV on all day, but if you give her the option to watch a movie she gets VERY excited!
If you look close at the pics you can see Jaycie's 2 little bottom teeth have come in. And she didn't get those til she was 15 months old. She has been a little "behind the curve" on most of the "baby Milestones" but after tonight we discovered she really might just be backwards on some of these milestones!! Kind of like she didn't ever really crawl before she walked - well tonight when we were doing "tic toc" to her I noticed something white on her gums! After looking closely it seems to be that Jaycie is getting her 2 upper premolars (I think)!!! She has no other teeth on top, but those little boogers are coming in!! I guess that could explain some of the moodiness lately and the little cries out at night time! Just like many other things, I guess she's just doing it the "Jaycie Way"!

We are so happy to finally have been blessed with this precious little girl and each day gets more and more fun and exciting! Every age and each milestone is so exciting! We look forward to the time when our family hopefully grows with more children to enjoy all these exciting things with them, too!
